Gene Cottingham

After eleven years of public accounting with Big Four firms, Deloitte and PwC, Gene cut his teeth in the business of motorsports by taking on the financial and operational oversight responsibilities for ten self-promoted races on the 2003 CART schedule, and many more in years to come. This deep experience carried over well into his role as Chief Financial Officer for the Champ Car World Series beginning in 2004. At Champ Car, Gene was solely responsible for the financial and administrative oversight of the organization.

Continuing to work closely with teams, promoters, sponsors, and television production, he developed an intimate understanding of the entire scope of the industry.

Since playing a key role in the merger of Champ Car and IndyCar in 2008, Gene has provided valuable consulting services to the owners of elite motorsports properties such as the IZOD IndyCar Series, Atlantic Racing Series, Historic Motorsports Productions, KV Racing, and Grand Prix Association of Long Beach, just to name a few. He continues to work with sanctioning bodies, teams, events, and other properties, utilizing his expertise to help clients increase revenue opportunities, reduce operating expenditures, and decrease business risks.
